I draw back the curtains and peer out to the moonlit street. A gentle azure glow highlights the water that remains washed on the road. The sweet smell of rain approaches closer as the night passes on. I see insects scatter out onto the street, skipping on the puddles that serve as an enjoyable pastime in the coolness of the night. They are free.
Here it comes. The sounds of a distant storm approaches. Silhouetted against the night sky are the naked branches of scrawny trees. Behind them is a maelstrom of lightning. There is a whirlpool of light and grey clouds brewing in the distance and the night

The fingernails fall on my lap as I am busy gnawing on the tips of my fingers. The left over spit from my mouth harbours the occasional orphan that once had a place on one of my fingers. Soon forgotten, time elapses. It has now been flicked off becoming next shadow on the floor. Not a very interesting one if I may add. There are plenty more shadows capable of possessing a more interesting shape. I am more interested in the ones with curves. Yes the curves. No shadow is complete without the curves. Did I mention that I like shadows with a bit of movement? No? Well let me explain.
